If you live in Washington, Nevada or Connecticut, also read our Consumer Health Data Policy. To manage what we share for ads, use .

In short

  • We collect what we need to run your course, take payment and email you.
  • Your quiz and course answers are sensitive. You agree to how we use them on the first screen of the quiz. We use them only to build your plan, run your course, improve our quiz and keep you safe.
  • We never sell your data for money, and your answers never go to Google, Meta, AppLovin or other ad platforms.
  • Your partner gets no messages from us and can’t see your account.
  • You can see, correct, download or delete your data at any time.

This summary helps you read the policy. The full text below is what applies.

1. Who we are

DK Essence, Aphroditestraat 35, 5047 TW Tilburg, the Netherlands (“Reconnected”, “we”) is the controller of your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect when you use reconnected.today, the quiz, the Reconnected course and app, our emails and The Shared Experience, and what we do with it.

For privacy questions or requests, email hello@reconnected.today with “Privacy” in the subject line.

2. What we never do

  • We never sell your personal data for money.
  • We never send your quiz answers, course answers or anything you write to advertising platforms, and we never use them to target ads.
  • We never contact your partner, and we never show him your answers.
  • We never publish what you write in the course.

3. The data we collect

Data you give us

  • Contact and account details: your first name, email address and password. If you sign up for texts, your phone number.
  • Quiz answers: for example what tends to happen when you bring something up, how you feel about it, how long you have been together, whether you have children, and what you would like to change.
  • Course data: your progress, the lessons you open, the exercises you do, what you type into them, your saved lines and your use of the SOS feature.
  • Messages with us: emails and survey answers you send us, and the reasons you give when you cancel.
  • Reviews you choose to give us.

Data we get when you buy

  • From our payment providers, Whop and Stripe: your plan, payments, refunds, renewal dates, the country of your card, and the last digits and type of your card. We never see your full card number.

Data collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, approximate location based on it (your country), browser, device type, pages visited, links clicked, and the date and time of visits. In the quiz we also record which screens you saw, your answers and where you stopped. This is how the quiz works, and we use it in combined form to improve it.
  • How you found us: if you came from an ad, the click id in that link (such as gclid, gbraid, wbraid, fbclid or aleid) and the campaign tags it carries; otherwise the name of the site that sent you and the first page you opened on ours.
  • Email data: whether you opened or clicked our emails.
  • Cookies and similar tools. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and in Washington and Nevada, non-essential ones only with your consent; elsewhere, including the rest of the US, you can turn them off at any time. Where this policy says “elsewhere”, it means outside the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and outside Washington and Nevada. See our Cookie Policy.

Data from others

  • Ad platforms may tell us which ad or campaign brought you to our site, in combined form.
  • We import our ad spend and campaign results from Google Ads. These contain no personal data.

4. Sensitive data and your consent

Your quiz and course answers can reveal things about your emotional wellbeing, your mental health and your intimate life. The law treats this as special category data in the EU and UK, and as consumer health data in several US states. We treat all of it as sensitive, even when it might not legally be.

We only collect and use it after you agree. The first screen of the quiz says: “By continuing, you agree to our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.” When you pick your first answer, we record that you agreed: the time, the version of that sentence and the random id our site keeps in your browser (not your name or email). We use your answers to build your plan and run the course, and in our own quiz analytics to improve the quiz (see section 5). We never send your answers to Google, Meta, AppLovin or other ad platforms. You can stop the quiz at any time. You can withdraw your agreement at any time by emailing us or deleting your account. Withdrawal doesn’t affect what we did before. Without your answers we can’t personalize your plan or run the course.

More about this, including your rights under US health data laws, is in our Consumer Health Data Policy.

5. How and why we use your data

Improve Reconnected, including the quizUsage data, quiz screens seen and where people stop; we look at answers only in combined form. With your analytics consent (elsewhere: unless you opt out), our analytics provider Amplitude processes these quiz events for us, including the answers you pick, linked to a random id instead of your name or email.Legitimate interest; for answers, your explicit consent; for Amplitude, your cookie consent
Measure our ads and show them to past visitorsSent from our server to Google when you sign up or buy: your email address in hashed form, the ad click id, the purchase value and your cookie choice. The Google tag on our website and in the quiz: which pages you visit (never which quiz question you are on) and, on the email step, your email address, which the tag sends to Google in hashed form. If we use Meta or AppLovin: cookie and pixel events on the first quiz screen, the email step and the offer, with your IP address and browser’s user agent. Never your answers.Your consent (elsewhere: until you opt out)

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Our legitimate interests are running a reliable service, improving it, preventing fraud and abuse, defending our rights, and telling our customers about our products. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest at any time.

Personalization: we use your quiz answers to choose where your plan starts and which lessons come first. This has no legal or similarly significant effect on you, and you can always change your plan. We don’t use your data to train AI language models.

6. Your partner’s data

We don’t ask for your partner’s name or contact details. If you mention him in an exercise, that stays in your account and is treated like the rest of your course data.

If you buy The Shared Experience and send him the link, he uses it on his own. We process the minimum needed to run it: an access token, what he opens and his answers in the shared space. We don’t ask him for an email address unless he chooses to save his progress. You can’t see what he reads, or how long he takes. Answers in the shared space are shown side by side only when you both choose to share them. Your partner can contact us to see or delete his data.

7. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers who process it for us under a written agreement, and only as far as they need it:

  • our payment providers, Whop (United States) and Stripe (Ireland and United States): checkout, payments, subscriptions and refunds. You pay through one of them. The checkout runs inside our page, and the provider handles your card details under its own privacy policy. Stripe also uses data about your device and how you use the checkout to prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy;
  • our email provider, Resend (United States): service emails, reminders and marketing emails. It receives your name, email, plan status and the plan theme you chose, never your answers;
  • our marketing email provider, Klaviyo (United States), when we use it, and only if you said yes to marketing emails and did not unsubscribe: it sends our marketing emails. It receives your email address, your first name if you gave it, your country, how you found us (for example an ad, a search or a link) and your yes to marketing emails. It also learns when you finish the quiz, start a checkout, buy, buy an add-on, renew, get a refund or cancel, with the plan and the amount where there is one. Never your answers;
  • providers that host our website, quiz and app and store our data, such as Vercel and Supabase;
  • analytics, customer support and cookie consent tools, such as Amplitude for quiz analytics (only with your consent; elsewhere, unless you opt out);
  • Google, to measure our ads and to show our ads to people who visited our website (remarketing), only if you allow marketing (elsewhere: unless you opt out). From our server, Google receives a sign-up or purchase with your email address in hashed form, the ad click id and the purchase value. The Google tag on our website and in the quiz tells Google which pages you visit, and on the email step it sends your email address in hashed form;
  • Meta and AppLovin, only if we start using them and only with the same consent: the same kind of events, with your hashed email address, the ad click id, your IP address, your browser’s user agent and their cookie ids.
  • Ad platforms never receive your answers.

You can ask us for the names of all our service providers.

We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, to defend a legal claim, or with a buyer if Reconnected is sold. In that case this policy keeps protecting your data.

8. International transfers

We are based in the Netherlands. Some providers are in the United States, such as Google, Whop, Stripe, Resend, Vercel and Amplitude, and Klaviyo, Meta and AppLovin if we use them. When your data leaves the European Economic Area, we use the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses with extra safeguards where needed. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

9. How long we keep data

Ad click idsUsed for ad measurement for up to 90 days after the click
Your IP address and browser’s user agent, kept for ad measurement30 days
Cookie data, and your cookie choiceSee the Cookie Policy. Your cookie choice is kept on your device for 12 months. Then we ask again, or elsewhere the default applies again.

You can ask us to delete your data earlier. We then keep only what the law requires us to keep.

10. How we protect your data

We use encryption in transit, access only for the people who need it, strong passwords and two-factor login for our team, and providers with recognized security standards. No system is perfect. If a data breach puts you at risk, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

11. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your data;
  • limit or stop some uses, including marketing and processing based on legitimate interest;
  • withdraw any consent you gave;
  • give you your data in a common format, or send it to another service.

Email hello@reconnected.today with “Privacy” in the subject line. We reply within 30 days. If your request is complex, we may need two more months and will tell you why. We may ask you to confirm your identity, usually by replying from your account email. You may use an authorized agent; we will then check that you gave them permission.

If we say no, we explain why. You can appeal by replying to our answer, and we respond within 45 days.

If you live in the EU or UK, you can also complain to a data protection authority: in the Netherlands the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), or the authority where you live.

12. US state privacy rights

Depending on the state you live in, you may have the right to know, access, correct, delete and port your data, to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data and of targeted advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive data. You can use these rights as described above, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.

Targeted advertising. We use Google Ads to measure which ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. For this we share ad click ids and your email address in hashed form with Google. We also use Google Ads to show our ads later to people who visited our website (remarketing), based on which pages they visited. We never share your quiz answers with Google or other ad platforms. You can say no at any time: in the banner (in the EU, the EEA and the UK it asks before anything is on), with “Your Privacy Choices” (at the bottom of every page of our website) or “Cookie settings” in Settings in the app, with “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”, with a Global Privacy Control signal, in Google’s Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com), or by emailing us at hello@reconnected.today.

Sale and sharing. We don’t sell personal data for money. Some state laws call it a “sale” or “sharing” when cookies, pixels or server events send browsing data or a hashed email address to ad platforms. We do this with Google, as described above. You can turn this off at any time with “Your Privacy Choices” at the bottom of every page. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out. Your opt-out is stored on your device for 12 months. After that, or if you clear your browser, turn it off again; a GPC signal keeps working. We never sell or share your quiz answers, your course answers or anything you write. The pages you visit on our website can still show that you are interested in Reconnected, so if you don’t want Google to know that, turn it off as described above. We don’t knowingly sell or share data of anyone under 18.

If we deny your request, you can appeal as described above. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can contact your state attorney general.

13. Children

Reconnected is only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly process personal data of people under 18. If you think a minor has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change is important, we email you before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
